China's Weng advances to BWF Korea Open men's singles final

SEOUL, April 9 (Xinhua) -- China's Weng Hongyang took the semifinal win over Victor Svendsen to advance to the men's singles final at the BWF World Tour Korea Open here on Saturday.

Weng edged out Denmark's Svendsen 22-20, 21-13, and now faces third seed Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the final, after he beat fifth seed Kidambi Srikanth of India 21-19, 21-16 in the other semifinal.

In the women's singles, second seed An Se-young of South Korea swept India's third seed Pusarla V Sindhu 21-14, 21-17, while sixth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand defeated South Korea's Kim Ga-eun 17-21, 21-14, 21-14.

In the mixed doubles, Malaysia's second seeds Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing ousted sixth seeds Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari of Indonesia 21-13, 22-20, while South Korea's fourth seeds Ko Sung-hyun and Eom Hye-won overwhelmed their compatriots Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun 21-9, 21-15.

In the men's doubles, second seeds Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia lost to Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae of South Korea 21-16, 17-21, 21-9. Indonesia's fourth seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto took an easy win over fellow countrymen Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana 21-12, 21-9.

In the women's doubles, South Korea's seventh seeds Jeong Na-eun and Kim Hye-jeong will meet eighth seeds Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard of Thailand in Sunday's final.
