RIO DE JANEIRO, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Internacional have reached a deal to sign center-back Vitao on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, who is contracted to Shakhtar until 2024, will be tied to the Porto Alegre outfit until the end of June.
"The transfer and the terms of the agreement comply with FIFA's special rule for athletes from Ukrainian clubs," read a statement on Internacional's official website. "He will be able to compete in the Brazilian championship and Copa Sudamericana."
Vitao began his career at Palmeiras before securing a four-million-euro move to Shakhtar in 2019.
Last month, FIFA said clubs in other countries and regions could sign up to two Ukraine or Russia-based players outside of the transfer window. The authorization is valid until June 30. ■
