WARSAW, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The Polish Ski Association on Tuesday named Austria's Thomas Thurnbichler as the new coach of its ski jumping team.
Thurnbichler has signed on until 2026, and replaces Michal Dolezal, whose contract was not extended after disappointing results for Polish ski jumpers at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Poland won just one bronze medal from Dawid Kubacki on the normal hill.
32-year-old Thurnbichler worked on the coaching staff with Austrian national team coach Andreas Widholzl. Previously, Thurnbichler had also led Austria's youth team. ■
