LIMA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Veteran Peruvian forward Jefferson Farfan will be sidelined for up to two months after undergoing keyhole surgery on his left knee, his club Alianza Lima said on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old underwent the operation on March 28 in the latest attempt to remedy a problem that first became evident in 2019.
The announcement means Farfan will miss the entire group stage of the Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition.
Farfan has made just 22 appearances and scored seven goals since returning to his boyhood club from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2021.
The former PSV Eindhoven, Schalke and Lokomotiv attacker has been capped 102 times for Peru and scored 27 goals. ■
