LONDON, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Manchester City remain top of the Premier League after a 2-0 win away to struggling Burnley on Saturday, while Liverpool won at home to Watford.
Goals from Diogo Jota and a late penalty from Fabinho put Liverpool on top of the table for two hours to celebrate Jurgen Klopp's 250th game as coach, but any pressure Pep Guardiola's side could have felt was dispelled in the fifth minute when Kevin de Bruyne's finish from Raheem Sterling's volley put them ahead at Turf Moor.
Sterling then set up Ilkay Gundogan for his side's second of the game in the 25th minute.
Third-placed Chelsea suffered a chastening 4-1 defeat at home to Brentford, who took a big step towards safety with an impressive performance.
Although Antonio Rudiger's long-range shot fired Chelsea ahead in the 48th minute, Vitaly Janelt's first goal of the afternoon equalized for the visitors two minutes later.
Brentford then ran riot with Christian Eriksen putting them ahead in the 54th minute, before Janelt's second made it 3-1 on the hour and Yoane Wissa added a fourth with three minutes left to play.
Tottenham moved fourth after a 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle United on Sunday. Goals from Ben Davies and Matt Doherty before and after the break turned the game around after Fabian Schar's free-kick had put Newcastle ahead.
Son Heung-min made it 3-1 after a move started by Harry Kane, and Emerson Royal added a fourth, before Steven Bergwijn ended the rout.
The win puts pressure on Arsenal, who visit Crystal Palace on Monday.
West Ham also kept their European options alive with a 2-1 win at home to Everton, who remain deep in a battle against relegation.
Aaron Cresswell's well-executed free-kick put West Ham ahead in the 32nd minute, and although Mason Holgate leveled the scores in the 53rd minute, Jarrod Bowen celebrated his return to fitness with the winning goal five minutes later.
All that was left was for Michael Keane to see his second yellow card to leave Everton with 10 men for the last 25 minutes to round off an unhappy return to face his former club for coach Frank Lampard.
Manchester United were held 1-1 by Leicester City after another disjoined display. Kelechi Iheanacho put Leicester ahead in the 63rd minute and Fred equalized three minutes later, with Leicester seeing what would have been a winning goal ruled out after Iheanacho fouled Raphael Varane in the buildup.
Jonny's goal in the seventh minute and the first own goal of Ashley Young's long career gave Wolverhampton Wanderers a 2-1 win at home to Aston Villa, whose goal was scored by England striker Ollie Watkins in the 86th minute.
James Ward-Prowse's superb free-kick earned a 1-1 draw for Southampton away to Leeds United, who had taken a first-half lead through Jack Harrison.
Finally, Brighton and Norwich drew 0-0, which ends both sides' six-game losing streaks, but will leave neither happy. ■
