HANGZHOU, March 31 (Xinhua) -- A few days ahead of the traditional Tomb-sweeping Day, teachers and students from the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University in east China paid respect to body donors on Wednesday.
At a memorial service, they laid flowers and cards at a monument erected in the university, which bears the names of 1,024 body donors.
China started piloting its organ donation program in 2010. The number of registered organ donors in China has exceeded 4.3 million, according to the latest statistics released in January 2022.
Tomb-sweeping Day, also called Qingming Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday for people to pay tribute to the dead and worship ancestors. It falls on April 5 this year.
