WARSAW, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Petra Kvitova to book a spot in the WTA Miami Open semifinals on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old is on course to take her third WTA title this season after winning tournaments in Doha and Indian Wells.

With Wednesday's victory, Swiatek, who sits top of the WTA rankings, extended her winning streak to 15 matches.

The match opend tightly with both players winning two consecutive service games, before Swiatek dominated to find a crucial break, setting it on her way to take the first set 6-3.

In the second set, the Czech defended four break points, but it was not enough to stop Swiatek, who has now won 23 of her last 26 matches.

Swiatek next faces American Jessica Pegula, who progressed from her quarterfinal against Paula Badosa as the Spaniard retired injured after just 20 minutes of play.
