RIO DE JANEIRO, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras have reached an agreement to extend the contract of Portuguese manager Abel Ferreira, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Saturday.
The 43-year-old, whose previous deal had been due to expire in December, will now be tied to the club until December 2024.
"It's with great satisfaction that we announce the renewal of our contract with [Ferreira]," Palmeiras president Leila Pereira said in a video posted on the club's official website.
"During our glorious 107-year history there have been few coaches that have identified themselves so much with the values and traditions of this club," she added.
Ferreira is regarded as one of the world's best young managers, having led Palmeiras to back-to-back Copa Libertadores titles following his appointment in November 2020. ■
