JAKARTA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Miguel Oliveira of the Red Bull KTM won the 2022 Indonesian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) on Sunday afternoon.

The Portuguese racer finished first with 2.205 seconds ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo. Quartararo's fellow French rider Johann Zarco of the Pramac Racing secured third place.

The MotoGP was delayed for more than one hour because of the rain. The wet circuit brought much pressure to the racers yet more excitement to the audience.

Eight-time world champion Marc Marquez of the Repsol Honda Team was declared unfit for the MotoGP race after a terrible accident in the warm-up session on Sunday morning, resulting in a concussion.

In the 16-lap Moto2 race on Sunday afternoon, Somkiat Chantra of the Idemitsu Honda Team Asia became the first-ever Thai rider to win a Grand Prix race. Celestino Vietti of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team and Aron Canet of the Flexbox HP40 took second and third respectively.

Denis Foggia of the team Leopard Racing claimed his first victory of the season in the Moto3 race, with Izan Guevara of the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team, and Carlos Tatay of the CFMoto Racing PrustelGP finishing second and third.

The 2022 Indonesian Motorcycle Grand Prix has been held from March 18 to 20 at the Mandalika Circuit on the Lombok Island of Indonesia's West Nusa Tenggara Province. The 2.68-mile (about 4.3 km) circuit features 17 corners that showcase Lombok's tourism spots.
