CAIRO, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Egyptians flock to local markets to purchase colorful lanterns ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan in Egypt is distinguished from other places in the world by many features, one of which is the Ramadan lantern, called "fannoos" in Arabic, a traditional lantern always used by families to decorate their houses, shops, and balconies.
