TOKYO, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and 97 others injured after a 6.1-magnitude and a 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit northeastern Japan late Wednesday night.
Strong shaking was felt in the country's northeastern and eastern areas, especially in Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.
Part of the Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train service was suspended (Thursday morning) after the earthquake derailed a bullet train.
East Nippon Expressway Company temporarily closed several sections of expressways.
