BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- China Unicom, one of the country's leading telecom giants, reported a 14.2-percent surge in net profit in 2021 amid its efforts to step up the pace of 5G network development.
Net profit attributable to the parent company exceeded 6.3 billion yuan (about 995.17 million U.S. dollars), it said in a statement filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
Business revenues rose 7.9 percent to 327.9 billion yuan last year, it said.
The company's 5G users increased by 84.1 million last year, bringing the total number to nearly 155 million by the end of 2021 amid its efforts to push digital transformation and service innovation, it said. ■
