LIMA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Sporting Cristal have completed the signing of Peru international midfielder Yoshimar Yotun on a three-month deal, the Lima club said on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old arrives on a free transfer after parting ways with Mexico's Cruz Azul in December.

"It is a very special day for me," Yotun told reporters. Cristal is my home. They have always treated me so well. I know the entire coaching staff and most of the squad as well. I feel very happy to return home and I promise to give everything on the pitch."

Yotun did not give reasons for the short-term nature of his contract, but local media reported that he has already agreed to join a club in the Middle East in July.

"It is an agreement we came to," he said. "If it were up to me, I'd stay [at Cristal] my whole life. I'm focused on working as hard as I can on a day-to-day basis and I don't want to think about what might happen later."

Yotun, who has been capped 114 times for Peru's national team, began his professional career at Sporting Cristal in 2018 and made 143 first-team appearances for the club before moving to Sweden's Malmo in 2015.
