KUWAIT CITY, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait has appointed new defense and interior ministers, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said on Wednesday.
According to an Amiri decree, retired General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah was appointed as first deputy prime minister and interior minister, and Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as deputy prime minister and defense minister, KUNA said.
During a meeting with them, the Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah affirmed the necessity of increasing efforts to preserve Kuwait's security, wishing them further success.
On Feb. 17, Kuwait's government said that an Amiri decree was issued to accept the resignation of Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The two ministers were also deputy prime ministers before resignation.
Kuwait experiences frequent cabinet reshuffles. ■
