JERUSALEM, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Israel on Saturday completed a 3-1 home win in the 2022 Davis Cup World Group I play-offs over South Africa.

The victory raised Israel to the World Group I ties stage which will be played in mid-September and leads to the finals qualifiers level, while South Africa will contest the World Group II ties.

The Israeli victory was achieved in an indoor court in the southern coastal city of Ashdod in front of about 1,500 fans.

South Africa's number 1 Lloyd Harris, who is currently 34th in the ATP world rankings, raised his team to 1-0 on Friday, after defeating Daniel Cukierman, who is 661 in the world, 2-0 (6-4, 6-4).

Later that day, Yishai Oliel (343) evened the tie after beating world number 1,078 Ruan Roelofse 2-0 (6-2, 6-3).

In the doubles match on Saturday, Israel went up 2-1, after Jonathan Erlich and Cukierman defeated Harris and Raven Klaasen 2-1 (7-6, 3-6, 6-3).

Oliel secured Israel's spot in the next round, after overcoming Harris, who suffered from a shoulder injury, 2-0 (6-3, 6-4).
