MAPUTO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on Friday swore in Adriano Maleiane as the country's new prime minister.
The new prime minister must coordinate, monitor, and facilitate communication within the government and with other national and international partners, Nyusi said.
"In my absence you are the visible face of my government," he said. "We are sure that you will be able to rise to the challenges that we are now posing to you, facilitating communication within the government and with other national and international partners."
A former minister of economy and finance, Maleiane, 73, served as governor of the Bank of Mozambique from 1991 to 2006.
He replaces Antonio Carlos de Rosario, who was in office since 2015.
On the same occasion, Nyusi also swore in new Minister of Economy and Finance Ernesto Tonela; Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources Carlos Mesquita; Minister of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries Lidia Cardoso; and Minister of Mining Resources and Energy Carlos Zacarias. ■
