HOHHOT, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, reported 15 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases between midnight Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, local authorities said Sunday.
A total of 146 local confirmed cases have been registered in the city during the latest resurgence, as of 2 p.m. Sunday, with two in critical condition, according to a press conference held by the municipal government. Most of the new cases were found among those already in quarantine, while a smaller number of cases were found among residents through mass nucleic acid testing.
The city plans to conduct its third-round nucleic acid testing from 9 a.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday, with more than 2,200 sample collecting venues.
Local health authorities are adding more testing facilities and staff to boost the testing capacity, said Wang Dawei, deputy director of the Hohhot center for disease control and prevention. ■
