BRATISLAVA, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- League-leading Levice Patriots managed to beat second-ranked BC Komarno 95-83 on Wednesday in a postponed match of the 24th round at the Slovak Basketball premiership SBL.
The visitors from Komarno started off well in the top of the table clash, building up a 7-point lead in the first period and expanding it to 9 at halftime. But in the last period, the Patriots successfully rallied and turned the game around in the final minutes thanks to a superb 13-0 run.
"We were expecting a tough battle against the top squad of the league. We were been up by more than 9 points at halftime but we missed a lot of chances. The Patriots showed their individual skills towards the end. Considering our injuries and fatigue, I am pretty satisfied with our performance despite the loss," Komarno coach Zlatko Jovanovic said.
The match between defending champions the Spis Knights and Inter Bratislava was plagued by turnovers and low scoring percentages. It featured an even first half but the visitors managed to gain advantage in the third period and eventually locked down the 66-58 victory. ■
