HELSINKI, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Finnish game company Supercell significantly improved its revenue and profits in 2021, after four consecutive years of decline in its financial results.
According to the financial report released by Supercell on Tuesday, the company's net sales rose by 46 percent from 1.27 billion euros (1.44 billion U.S. dollars) in 2020 to 1.89 billion euros in 2021.
Its profits before taxes (EBITDA) were 734 million euros, an increase of as much as 80 percent from the previous year.
Supercell released big updates to its five games in 2021. CEO Ilkka Paananen said in a press release that the company increased its number of players and sales last year, thanks to these additional contents.
The company's five hit games Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars have had more than five billion downloads, and the number of people playing the company's games each month increased by about a tenth to 250 million.
Known as Finland's most successful game maker, Supercell was founded in 2010 in Helsinki. In 2016, Chinese conglomerate Tencent purchased a majority stake in Supercell and became its largest shareholder. (1 euro=1.14 U.S. dollars) ■
