YANQING, Beijing, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- German athletes continued their unstoppable run at the National Sliding Center as Hannah Neise took the gold medal from women's skeleton here on Saturday.
Neise, leading the competitive field after the third heat, secured the eighth Beijing 2022 gold medal for Germany in a combined time of four minutes and 07.62 seconds.
Jaclyn Narracott, surprise leader at the halfway mark on Friday, took the silver 0.62 seconds behind Neise, which was enough for her to make history as the first Australian to earn an Olympic medal in sliding sports.
Kimberley Bos of the Netherlands bagged the bronze in 4:08.46, edging reigning world champion Tina Hermann to fourth by 0.27 seconds.
Zhao Dan, one of China's flagbearers at the opening ceremony, ranked fourth after the first two heats on Friday and finished ninth eventually. Her compatriots Li Yuxi placed 14th.
The two were first Chinese female skeleton racers to feature at a Winter Olympics. ■
