TAIPEI, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- The exports of the Taiwan region of China to the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) rose to 15.7 billion U.S. dollars in January, up 5.7 percent year on year, according to data released by the island's finance authorities on Friday.
The mainland and HKSAR remained Taiwan's biggest export destination, accounting for 39.3 percent of the island's total exports in January, and Taiwan's trade surplus to the mainland was 7.63 billion U.S. dollars in the month.
The island's finance authorities said that the global economic growth would continue to underpin Taiwan's exports in the first quarter this year, despite uncertainties from the spread of the COVID-19 variants and the supply chain bottlenecks. ■
