YANQING, Beijing, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland won women's Super-G gold on Friday at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Gut-Behrami clocked a winning time of one minute and 13.51 seconds to add another medal to the bronze she won at Monday's giant slalom.
Austria's Mirjam Puchner finished second with 0.22 seconds behind. Another Swiss racer, 2018 Olympic combined gold medalist Michelle Gisin, settled for bronze in 1:13.81.
Gut-Behrami said she won the gold without any specific pre-race plans.
"I had no strategy at all. I just tried to ski," she said.
"This is what has always been a little bit of a problem in the past - thinking what to do and what to do better. Now I just try and ski," she said.
Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States finished ninth after skiing out in her first two events.
Shiffrin, who won the slalom gold at the 2014 Sochi Games and giant slalom gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Games, struggled at the start and managed to cross in the finish line 0.79 seconds behind Gut-Behrami.
"I didn't think there was a very big chance to come in and win, or even medal, in this race with these women who have been skiing Super-G all season," Shiffrin said.
"I just skied strong, and it's a really big relief to be here now in the finish, having skied a run well," she said. ■
