RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo has reached an agreement to sign midfielder Andreas Pereira on a permanent contract from Manchester United, according to widespread media reports in the South American country.
The 26-year-old will sign a five-year deal with the Rio de Janeiro club after United agreed to a 10.5 million-euro transfer fee, newspaper O Globo reported.
The Premier League giants are understood to have lowered their original 20 million-euro asking price in exchange for 25 percent of proceeds from any future sale.
Pereira has made 25 appearances for Flamengo and scored five goals since joining the club on a year-long loan last August.
In December, he told Brazilian journalists that he "would do everything" in his power to stay at Flamengo following a successful start to his loan spell. ■
