JERUSALEM, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The exhibition "Earth Poetica" kicked off on Sunday in the aquarium of Jerusalem's Biblical Zoo.

Beverly Barkat, a Jerusalem-based artist, is using her latest art installation to arouse people's awareness of the global crisis of plastic pollution. In her exploration to connect people with nature, she found that environmental waste could be a powerful medium.

The resulting work is the "Earth Poetica," an imposing sphere four meters in diameter, made up of metal-framed panels and an inner skeleton of bamboo segments filled with plastic. The outer surface of the globe, with its authentically proportioned continents and oceans, glistens with splendid beauty.
