SAN SALVADOR, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele has inaugurated the construction of a new national library, a China-aided mega project located in the historic center of the capital San Salvador.
In a solemn ceremony, President Bukele declared that the construction of this cultural center was accomplished thanks to a donation from the Chinese government, as a result of the visit made by the Salvadoran president to China in 2019.
The president said the new national library will be the biggest cultural investment in the last 100 years in the El Salvadoran history, representing "a legacy for new generations."
For her part, the Chinese Ambassador to El Salvador, Ou Jianhong, affirmed that this project brings "the beautiful hope that both peoples can mutually help each other and prosper together."
In addition, Ou affirmed that, once it is built, the national library will improve the cultural and educational infrastructure of the country, promoting cultural exchanges between China and El Salvador.
