SHENZHEN, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen reported two new locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, the municipal health commission said.
The new cases were found among close contacts of previously reported cases who were under medical observation.
A total of 13 local cases have been reported in the city since Jan 31.
Gene sequencing has shown that nine of the 13 cases were infected with the Omicron variant, with the causes of the remaining cases to be identified.
Further epidemiological investigations are underway, the commission said. ■
