LA PAZ, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan coach Cesar Farias will remain in charge of Bolivia's national team until the end of the South American World Cup qualifiers, the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) said on Friday.
Farias, 48, tendered his resignation following Bolivia's 3-2 home defeat to Chile on Tuesday, a result that effectively ended the Verde's hopes of securing a place at football's showpiece tournament in Qatar later this year.
"He has retracted his decision and will remain in the position until the completion of the qualifiers," FBF president Fernando Costa told reporters.
"He will continue as manager for the last two qualifiers and then we'll immediately start a selection process to hire his replacement."
Farias has guided Venezuela to seven wins, three draws and 17 losses since his appointment in August 2019.
Bolivia will conclude their qualifying campaign against Colombia in Barranquilla on March 24 and Brazil in La Paz five days later. ■
