MEXICO CITY, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Atletico San Luis have appointed former Brazil under-23 manager Andre Jardine as their new head coach, the Mexican club said on Thursday.
The 42-year-old Brazilian replaces Marcelo Mendez, who was sacked last week after the team's poor start to the Liga MX season.
"Hi San Luis fans, I'm very happy and excited about coming to this beautiful club," Jardine said in a video posted by San Luis on social media.
Jardine's 19-year managerial career also includes spells in charge of Brazilian clubs Sao Paulo and Gremio.
San Luis, an affiliate of Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, are currently last in the 18-team Liga MX standings having lost each of their first three matches. ■
