LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Superhero film "Spider-Man: No Way Home" once again led North American box office charts in its seventh weekend of release without much in the way of competition, according to studio figures released by measurement firm Comscore on Sunday.
The film brought in 11 million U.S. dollars in the United States and Canada this weekend for a huge North American total cume of 735.88 million dollars. There is no new wide release in the region over the weekend as movie theaters are continuing to fight to survive amid coronavirus concerns.
Since released on Dec. 17, 2021, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has been the winner of the North American box office in six of the past seven weeks.
Internationally, the film joined the very select group of films to cross the 1 billion mark in overseas box office after taking in 21.1 million dollars this weekend in 63 markets.
Based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the sequel to the 2017 "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and 2019 "Spider-Man: Far From Home." Directed by Jon Watts, it is the third Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film. ■
