NEW DELHI, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- At least six persons died when a bus ran over them in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh early on Monday, confirmed a local cop over the phone.
The mishap occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur area when the driver of the speeding bus lost control and ran over some people standing by the roadside.
After hitting the bystanders, the bus ran through a traffic booth and came to a halt after hitting a truck, said a media report.
Three cars and many bikes were damaged in the mishap. ■
