JAKARTA, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia on Friday confirmed 9,905 new COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day rise since Sept. 1 last year, amid the spread of the Omicron variant in the archipelagic country.

As the government is accelerating its national vaccination programs to curb the spread of the virus, more than 183.67 million people have received their first doses of vaccines, while over 127.16 million have taken the second doses.
