BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua News Agency and the China Writers Association (CWA) signed a cooperation deal Wednesday to jointly launch a 5G-based reading and writing platform.
The project will pool the works of writers across the country on a 5G-based interactive reading platform, according to the deal.
The project is part of Xinhua's efforts to make itself a new type of leading global all-media institution and is aimed at attracting the best writers and other creative talent in literature, said Liu Siyang, the news agency's vice president, at the signing ceremony.
The CWA regards the project as a significant move to promote quality literary works and create a new reading experience in the 5G age, said Wu Yiqin, vice chairperson of the CWA.
Under the project, the two sides will together found an academic committee, open writing courses and launch writing contests with celebrated writers and experts as judges, including Chinese Nobel laureate Mo Yan.
He Ping, president of Xinhua News Agency, and Zhang Hongsen, Party chief of the CWA, observed the signing. ■
