MOSCOW, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Russia registered 74,692 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day increase to date, taking the national tally to 11,315,801, the official monitoring and response center said Wednesday.
The country's nationwide death toll grew by 657 to 328,105, while the number of recoveries increased by 28,197 to 10,099,937.
Meanwhile, Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported a daily record of 19,856 new cases, taking its total to 2,232,836.
Omicron infections have been detected in 72 out of Russia's 85 regions, the center said. ■
