ROME, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Inter Milan survived a home scare on Saturday as it registered a 2-1 Serie A comeback victory over Venezia with Nicolo Barella's equalizer and Edin Dzeko's last-gasp winner.

Inter saw its winning streak in Serie A come to an end last week after a 0-0 tie with Atalanta and entered into San Siro with a relatively full squad, while Venezia was depleted as eight players tested positive for COVID-19 virus.

Inter dominated the game from the very beginning, but it was the away side that took a shock lead in the 17th minute when Thomas Henry jumped to meet Ethan Ampadu's cross for a looping header.

The Nerazzurri pulled back on level terms in the 40th minute when Matteo Darmian sprinted down the right to roll cross, Luca Lezzerini palmed away Ivan Perisic's volley, but could do nothing to Barella's follow-up. It sparked controversy as Dzeko was suspected of having a foul in the build-up, but the referee gave it all-clear after checking the VAR.

Inter continued its dominance after the break but couldn't find the net until the dying minute when substitute Denzel Dumfries floated in a cross from the right for Dzeko to head in.

With a game in hand, Inter Milan leads the table on 53 points, five ahead of AC Milan who hosts Juventus on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Atlanta shared the spoils with Lazio at 0-0, while Genoa and Udinese also played out a goalless tie.
