WARSAW, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Two-time world champion ski jumper Piotr Zyla has tested positive for COVID-19, the Polish Ski Association said on Friday morning.
Zyla will thus miss this weekend's training with the rest of the Polish team and may not be able to catch the fight on Jan. 31 together with the country's delegation for the coming Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
"I feel good, but the result of the test is positive," the athlete wrote on his social media.
"For now, Zyla's infection is asymptomatic. We hope that he will recover by Jan. 31. If not, we will try to reach to Beijing a few days later," General Secretary of the Polish Ski Association Jan Winkiel told local media in an interview on Friday.
Before Zyla, his teammate Dawid Kubacki missed competitions in Zakopane due to COVID-19 infection.
Zyla and Kubacki's infections are not the only problem for the Polish ski jumping coach Michal Dolezal, as team leader Kamil Stoch caught an ankle injury. ■
