RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Former Napoli goalkeeper Rafael Cabral has joined Cruzeiro after parting ways with English Championship club Reading, the Brazilian outfit said on Tuesday.
Rafael agreed to a three-year contract, having completed a routine medical on Monday.
"I'm motivated to create history here and do everything I can to help the club get back to where it belongs," the 31-year-old said in a video published on Cruzeiro's official website.
Rafael has been capped three times for Brazil in a career that has also included spells at Santos, Napoli and Sampdoria.
He is expected to be among several high-profile signings for the Foxes under new owner Ronaldo.
The dual World Cup winner last month agreed to invest 70 million U.S. dollars in Cruzeiro as part of a deal that saw him acquire 90 percent of the club's shares.
Traditionally one of Brazil's biggest and most successful clubs, Cruzeiro are currently languishing in Serie B, having been relegated for the first time in their history in 2019. ■
