HARBIN, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- The 48th Harbin ice lantern fair kicked off in Zhaolin Park of Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Jan. 5.
Many ice sculptures featuring Winter Olympic Games, such as speed skating, alpine skiing, are displayed at the fair. The fair also includes various kinds of ice sculpture competitions and Ice-Snow cultural activities.
Harbin staged its first ice lantern exhibition in 1963 and was dubbed as the birthplace of Chinese ice lantern art. The art has brought cheering and laughter to people in the winters through the decades.
