BRATISLAVA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- HK Dukla Ingema Michalovce beat local rival HC Kosice 3-1 on Thursday to move to the third spot after the 32nd round of the Slovak ice hockey premiership Tipos Extraliga.
Trailing 1-0 for most of the game, Michalovce made a comeback thanks to two consecutive goals in the third period before sealing the victory 3-1 with a spectacular empty-netter sent across the entire ice.
It has been Michalovce's third straight victory which pushed it up one spot in the standings to the third place.
The attractive match-up between the first and third teams resulted in whopping 12 goals scored and visiting side HC Slovan Bratislava beating Nitra 7-5.
Nitra's left wing Samuel Bucek led his team's productivity with two goals and one assist, while Slovan's American forward Andrew Yogan upped him with a hat-trick and an assist.
Slovan now leads the Tipos Extraliga table with 11 points ahead of Zvolen.
HC Grotto Presov succeeded in putting an end to a series of three consecutive defeats, outscoring HK Spisska Nova Ves 3-1.
After a two-round break due to COVID-19 troubles, bottem side MHK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas suffered a shocking 80 seconds to concede three goals before ending up in a 5-2 defeat to HC '05 Banska Bystrica. ■
