RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Fluminense have reached a deal to sign former Brazil under-20 midfielder Nathan Souza for the 2022 season, the Rio de Janeiro club said on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old arrives on a 12-month loan from reigning Brazilian Serie A champions Atletico Mineiro.
"I have high expectations and want to fight for titles," Nathan told Fluminense's official website. "When you play for a club like this one you have to set your standards high."
Nathan began his career at Athletico Paranaense in 2013 and earned a move to Chelsea two years later. He never represented the Premier League club in a competitive fixture and had loan spells at Vitesse, Amiens and Belenenses before the Blues agreed to sell him to Atletico Mineiro.
He is Fluminense's fifth signing of the pre-season, joining central defender David Duarte, left-back Mario Pineida, midfielder Felipe Melo and forward Willian Bigode. Enditem
