KUWAIT CITY, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait's new government took the constitutional oath on Tuesday before the National Assembly, or the parliament, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and his cabinet took the oath at the start of the assembly's ordinary session to commence work prescribed in Article 91 of the Constitution, KUNA reported.

On Nov. 14, 2021, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah accepted the previous government's resignation, about a week after the latter resigned.

On Nov. 23, the crown prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued an order on behalf of the emir to appoint Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as prime minister and assign him to form a new government. Kuwait formed a new government led by the prime minister on Dec. 28.
