COLOMBO, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's annual average inflation rose to 6 percent in December 2021, compared to 4.3 percent in December 2020, local media citing data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) reported here Monday.
Headline inflation in the month of December climbed to 12.1 percent year on year as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index. The CBSL said that the inflation was driven by supply-side factors.
Food inflation rose to 22.1 percent year on year in December, while non-food inflation rose to 7.5 percent year on year.
The CBSL said that it would release a study on the supply side factors driving inflation, and has previously attributed inflation to rising global commodity prices and Sri Lanka's import dependency. Enditem
