Zimbabwe has reported rising COVID-19 death cases over the past two weeks, jumping from single-digit figures in the first two weeks of the month to double-digit figures now.
HARARE, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe on Tuesday recorded 24 COVID-19 deaths, a new record high since the onset of the Omicron variant in the country early this month.
The last highest number of deaths was 23 that was recorded on Dec. 23.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, COVID-19 deaths have been steadily rising over the past two weeks, jumping from single-digit figures in the first two weeks of the month to double-digit figures now.
To date, Zimbabwe has recorded a cumulative 4,908 COVID-19 deaths from 205,449 coronavirus cases. A total of 166,717 people have recovered from the virus, giving a national recovery rate of 82 percent. ■
