Santiago, March 23 (Xinhua) --Chile has received the sixth shipment of COVID-19 vaccines from Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, marking another milestone in the South American country's mass vaccination campaign.
Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris and Chinese ambassador to Chile Niu Qingbao attended the welcoming ceremony at the Santiago International Airport.
The Sinovac vaccines were approved for emergency use in Chile on Jan. 20, based on the recommendations of a committee of experts chosen to evaluate the quality of vaccines.
The mass vaccination plan in Chile kicked off on Feb. 3, with the goal of immunizing 80 percent of the population, or roughly 15 million people, during the first half of 2021.
