HONG KONG, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported 12 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, taking its total tally to 11,409.
The new cases included four local infections and eight imported ones. Of the local cases, one had an unknown origin, according to the CHP.
A total of 298 cases have been recorded between March 9 and 22, including 225 local cases of which 43 are from unknown sources, the CHP said.
According to the Hospital Authority, 227 COVID-19 patients are currently being treated in public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Center, and 10 patients are in critical condition.
An 89-year-old COVID-19 patient passed away in a public hospital on Tuesday, bringing the number of COVID-19 patients that have passed away in Hong Kong's public hospitals to 198. Enditem
