The possibility of further spread of the COVID-19 epidemic in Kashgar Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has been basically ruled out, a local health official said at a press conference on Wednesday. Xinjiang reported 23 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the regional health commission said Thursday. The cases, all reported in Shufu County of Kashgar, were re-categorized from previously reported asymptomatic ones. By Wednesday, Xinjiang had a total of 45 confirmed cases including three in serious condition, and 138 asymptomatic ones, all in Shufu County.
