CAIRO, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Egypt announced on Friday that 13 new cases were tested positive for COVID-19 inside the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 93.
The new cases, five Egyptians and eight foreigners, have been in contact with the previously announced cases, spokesman for Egyptian Health Ministry Khaled Mujahid said in a statement.
He announced that one of the newly infected foreigner has been discharged from the isolation hospital after full recovery, bringing the total number of those recovering from the COVID-19 to 21.
"Test results of five cases shifted from positive to negative, bringing the number of cases whose lab results turned into negative to 32," the spokesman added.
According to Mujahid, two COVID-19 cases, a German tourist and an Egyptian lady, died since the outbreak of the virus in Egypt.
Since the emergence of the coronavirus, Egypt has adopted an integrated plan which covers early detection, quarantine and treatment measures, as well as raising public awareness.
