BRUSSELS, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Luxembourg's Minister of Health Paulette Lenert announced on Friday evening that the country had seen its first COVID-19 death, as the total number of infected people reached 34.
Lenert noted that people who might be particularly at risk are prioritized when it comes to testing, reiterating that the virus is not deadly for the vast majority of people.
Mayor of Luxembourg City Lydie Polfer said on Friday's press briefing that Luxembourg is doing everything in its power to bring the virus under control.
The government took drastic measures in Luxembourg City. All schools are closed including creches, primary schools, secondary schools, and the University of Luxembourg. All events with the participation of over 100 people are cancelled and large gatherings should be also avoided.
