KIEV, March 13 (Xinhua) -- A 71-year-old woman who was hospitalized on Thursday after tested positive for COVID-19 has become Ukraine's first death case of the virus, Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a telegram channel on Friday.
"A 71-year-old woman from Zhytomyr region who was hospitalized on March 12 with a laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 case has died today. The MOH of Ukraine expresses condolences to her family," the statement read.
Ukraine's first COVID-19 patient, who was confirmed in the Chernivtsi region on March 3, is now in a stable condition.
On March 11, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers approved a plan to fight the COVID-19 in the country, including a three-week nationwide closure of educational institutions and a ban on mass gatherings.
