BANGKOK, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Ministry of Finance's Excise Department, along with the Government Savings Bank (GSB) will distribute hand sanitizing gel to the public starting on March 27, the Finance Ministry announced Friday.
"One million bottle of hand sanitizers, 25 ml. each will be given away to public members at 1,060 GSB branches throughout the country on March 27 and April 10. Each person will get only one bottle," said Patchara Anuntasilpa, director-general of the Excise Department.
The Liquor Distillery Organization will be in charge of producing and distributing the hand gel to GSB branches on March 24.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department will distribute 300,000 liters of 70 percent ethyl alcohol or ethanol at its offices across the country.
About 100 liters will be handed out per day, starting on March 27.
People can bring their own containers to receive ethanol, limited to one liter per person.
Both the hand sanitizers and alcohol are in high demand in the light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
