ABIDJAN, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene of Cote d'Ivoire announced Thursday the second confirmed case of COVID-19 in the country.
According to this announcement, the sencond case is the wife of the first infected patient, whose diagnosis of coronavirus disease was confirmed Wednesday by the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene. She had traveled to Italy with his husband and returned to Abidjan on March 6.
The second patient was transferred to Fann's infectious disease department on Wednesday night. The ministry had also taken the nasopharyngeal specimens for other members of her family, who are all in solitary confinement, and the results are expected to be known later.
